Carnival scene with figures in Commedia dell'Arte costumes eating spaghetti

Depictions of scenes and characters from Commedia dell'Arte shows became a popular theme for Italian artists during the 18th century, made famous by the likes of Giovanni Battista Tiepolo (1696–1770) and Marco Marcola (1740–1793). This painting shows actors eating spaghetti in an Italian town (most likely Verona) and draws close comparison with examples by Marcola.1
