The present example cartel d'applique is based on an 18th century prototype consisting of a separate clock and barometer. One example of the pair, formerly at the château de Saint-Cloud, is now in the Louvre (cat. nos. 392 and 393). Another pair is in the Musée Nissim de Camondo, Paris (cat. no. 151)

Ce cartel d'applique s'inspire d'un prototype du XVIIIe siècle conçu pour séparer l'horloge du baromètre.
