W.A. Bolin, 10 Kungsträdgårdsgatan, Stockholm

The Bolin company was founded in Saint Petersburg in 1791 by German jeweller Andreas Roempler, supplier to the imperial court. His son-in-law took over the business and went into partnership with his brother-in-law Carl Edvard Bolin, a brilliant Swedish accountant. In 1836, Bolin took over the reins of the company and obtained the title of official supplier to the Imperial Court from Tsar Nicholas I. The company was a direct competitor of Fabergé, producing high-quality jewellery and silverware. In 1912, Bolin opened a branch in Germany, followed by another in Stockholm in 1916.
