An interesting group of material related to a theatrical adaptation of Golden Boy directed by Joanne Woodward. Two annotated copies of the script reveal Joanne's studied consideration of the play by Clifford Odets, one dated 1987 and the other 1995. The accompanying poster advertises the Blue Light Theater Company's 1995 off-Broadway production, and features art by her daughter Melissa Newman.


Golden Boy tells the story of Joe Bonaparte, a talented violinist who becomes tragically embroiled in the world of prizefighting.
