MGM really went to town on the marketing of this film, and produced special 3-D holographic displays for its Cinerama release. This release was a wide-screen format, which could only be shown in a small number of cinemas that had this capability.
One of the rarer pieces on this iconic film.
Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey is still considered one of the most influential sci-fi films of all time.
