Inside all standard production Pre-Extra Fort chronographs beats the calibre 16000, manufactured by Valjoux. Not only does the 16 ligne movement, which measures 36mm across, fit the oversized case of the Eberhard extremely well, it is also superbly decorated for the period. Many aficionados credit the calibre 16000 as not only a true workhorse, but one of the best chronograph movements ever made, in the same ranks as the 13ZN from Longines and Valjoux’s more established 72.
The present watch, as with the previous three lots, contains the calibre 16000, and also uses the earlier chronograph pause mechanism, operated through a slide lock instead of the usual pusher at 4:30.
The case is incredibly crisp further elevating the present example.
