Released together with and running alongside the iconic reference 3940, the present reference 3945 was effectively the same perpetual calendar wristwatch except featuring a lugless integrated bracelet design. These references were embraced by the community ever since their release, and as a result enjoyed a long production run which finally ended in 2007.

The present example of the reference 3945 features the enigmatic “Doré” dial, which can be described as a dark champagne tone, almost similar in colour to the rest of the case. Confirmed on the Certificate of Origin, these dials are significantly rarer than the standard silvered option and have been misunderstood for a long time due to their rarity, often miscategorised as “gold toned”, “champagne” or even “salmon”. Today, the Doré dial has finally been recognised as an official and rarely seen dial variation produced by Patek Philippe is sought after by collectors.
