2002年勐海茶廠大益紅絲帶甲級沱茶是勐海茶廠早期的經典沱茶之一，勐海茶廠早期為了標註品質較高用料較好的產品通常在包裝內加上金絲帶或者紅絲帶，所以一直以來紅絲帶也被當做是好茶的標誌之一。這年的用料較為精細，以嫩葉為主，條索緊，比較聚香，茶味很足，選料應為春茶拼配。一般來說用料以小葉為主的產品，如果是選用的夏茶或者秋茶會呈現比較明顯的澀感和不耐泡的情況。
