Description
Very Very Old Fitzgerald 12 Year Old Bottled In Bond 100 Proof 1959
Distilled in the Fall of 1959, bottled in the fall of 1971 at Stitzel-Weller Distillery, tax strip lightly worn, front and back labels very lightly worn, includes worn original carton and velvet sack.
Old Fitzgerald was the flagship brand of the Stitzel-Weller Distillery, led by Julian “Pappy” Van Winkle. The whiskey came in a variety of ages. While under his management, 'Pappy' Van Winkle refused to bottle Old Fitzgerald at anything less than the domestic requirement of 100 Proof, set out by the Bottled In Bond Act of 1897. The Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897 made it illegal to label any spirit bonded if it was aged past 8 Years. This was changed in 1958. This 12 Year old bottling is one of the early releases at this age and proof, becoming a catalyst for many others to follow.
1 bottle 4/5 quart (original carton)
