Spanish, late 17th century | Chest Jewel

Roses or chest jewels are considered to be the antecedents of the modern brooch and were usually attached to the neckline of clothing during the 17th century. The frame was usually gold or silver gilt cut or filigree. Pearl-decorated chest jewels were widely used in the 1660s and 1670s.
