The present lot belongs to the Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP), which was launched in 1998 and inspired by historic Cartier designs. The calibre 045MC that powers the Tortue Monopoussoir was made by THA Ebauche founded in 1996, a collaborative movement manufactured by Vianney Halter, Denis Flageollet and François-Paul Journe.
The original Tortue was first introduced in 1906, just two years after the invention of the first men’s wristwatch. Bearing a tonneau-shaped case, the watch strongly reminds one of the tastes of the Art-Deco period, highly desirable in the market today.
