comprising:

A gold bodkin case, English, circa 1760, in the form of a Solomonic column with chased composite capital and chased rose borders alternating with polished bands, plain base, the interior with associated gilt-metal folding scissors, 9.7cm., 3 7/8 in. high;

A parcel-gilt silver needle case, English, late 18th century, of tapering form, overlaid with scrolled silver filigree, the front of the lid with an armorial cartouche, engraved with initials: EM, 3¾in high;

A gold and enamel fountain pen, probably Paris, 1768-1774, decorated with reeded gold bands with green and blue basse-taille enamel borders of flowers, leaves and ovolos, Paris contremarque for 1768-1774, 5¼in high

The pen holder and initialled parcel-gilt needlecase probably, Lady Elizabeth Montagu, later, Duchess of Buccleuch (1743–1827),

by descent to,

The Hon. Lucy Elizabeth Montagu-Scott (1805–1877) who married Cospatrick, 11th Earl of Home (1799-1881),

thence by descent in the collection of the Earls of Home at The Hirsel, Berwickshire.
