with rebrowned swamped octagonal barrels signed ‘Wogdon, London’ in script on the flats and with bent bores, fitted with silver fore-sights, engraved with a band of beadwork at the breeches and struck with London proof mark and the barrelsmiths initials ‘RW’ beneath, engraved breeches decorated with a band of beadwork and fitted with back-sights, border-engraved flat detented locks signed in capitals ‘Manton’, engraved with a Britannia trophy on the tails, fitted with ‘French’ cocks (top-jaws and screws replaced), semi-rainproof pans and steel springs with rollers (light surface rust, small areas of light pitting), set triggers, highly figured walnut full stocks, finely chequered butts (rubbed, the stocks with light bruising), engraved steel mounts (small areas of light pitting) comprising spurred trigger-guards engraved with a flower head on the bow and with acorn finials, and a pair of ramrod-pipes, silver barrel bolt escutcheons (one loose), associated copper alloy-tipped wooden ramrods each with steel worm, in earlier fitted case relined in green baize (one small crack at the front, the lid with a closed crack on the exterior), with copper alloy carrying handle, complete with loading mallet and later powder flask
