Louis-François Tronquoy first entered his mark for la tabatière on 4 January 1827 from 8 rue des Prouvaires and remained at this address until 28 June 1871, probably having taken over the business and premises of the box-maker Simon-Achille Léger. He was among the most prolific Parisian 19th century snuff box makers, and also the chief supplier of presentation boxes to Emperor Napoleon III.
