rectangular with rounded corners, the lid applied with the crowned cipher of Henri, Comte de Chambord, in translucent blue enamel over engine-turning, on an sprig-patterned engine-turned ground within engraved scrollwork including stylised fleurs-de-lys, the base and sides similarly decorated, the inside of the lid engraved with a presentation inscription reading: Donné / par Monsieur le Comte de Chambord / à Mr le Consul / le 18 7bre 1847, maker’s mark, French post-1838 control marks, the rim numbered: 973
