Fourteen folios from this early North Deccan ragamala series are illustrated in F. Galloway, Court, Epic, Spirit: Indian Art 15th-19th century, exhibition catalogue, London 2022, no. 13 (a-n). In a discussion on the series, J.P. Losty had suggested that the patron of this ragamala set was most likely a Rajput commander in the Mughal armies at this time, who would have been based at Burhanpur and then at Aurangabad in the Deccan (ibid., p.54).

A further folio from this series sold at Bonhams, New York, 18 September 2013, lot 125.
