“Of Fathers and Sons characterizes the dynamic and divergence between old and new generations, while simultaneously introducing the possibility of reconciliation. The discussion of parenthood rarely highlights relationships between a father and son that aren’t defined by retaliation or distance, deeming anything otherwise to be culturally unorthodox. Here, there is an unconditional embrace with both the father and son meeting halfway regardless of circumstances.
The relief behind the father, a reference to a pulpit carving at the Pisa Cathedral, reflects this scenario. It shows Jesus being embraced by Judas whilst reaching his hand out beneath to one of his followers, who reaches up his own hand in admiration. Regardless of who initiates first, there is equal strength in reciprocating.” – Kathryn Dennison
