Made by Cartier in circa 1913, this baguette-form pendant watch brings the modern use of platinum to the forefront of its design and is one of the first pieces to carry the dog’s head platinum mark introduced into France in December 1912. Platinum’s strength, purity and versatility allowed Cartier to achieve intricate detailing, as seen in the finely executed millegrain setting that frames the watch’s bezel and adorns the pendant brooch. The rose-cut diamonds, meticulously arranged, shimmer with a delicate radiance that contrasts elegantly with the refined brilliance of the platinum.
