2 volumes bound in one, 4to (294 x 238mm.), 61 hand-coloured engraved plates by F. Sansom after Sydenham Edwards, nineteenth-century maroon half morocco, spine with raised bands in six compartments, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers, some light spotting and marginal creasing,small marginal hole to pp. 133-134 (not affecting text), tear at outer margin of pp. 223-224 (not affecting text), volume 2, plate 34 weakened along platemark at lower margin, spine slightly sunned
"The plates are well coloured and many American flowers are included". This work was "also published under the title of The New Flora Britannica, 1812", for which see lot 322, and "the same plates are used, still bearing the dates of 1805 and 1806" (Dunthorne).
