A lovely copy with the text on p. 60 in uncorrected state. Hard Times originally appeared in twenty numbers in Household Words from April 1 1854 through to August 12 1854. It was published in book form on August 7 1854. It is one of only two novels by Dickens, Great Expectations being the other, to be un-illustrated in the original appearance.
