Possibly Cardinal Carlo Pio di Savoia (1622-1689), Rome;

Possibly thence by inheritance to his nephew, Prince Francesco Pio di Savoia (1672-1723), Rome and Madrid;

Art market, Bologna;

Where acquired by Thomas Gambier Parry (1816-1888), Highnam Court, Gloucestershire, 1839 (November 1860 inv. no. 53; December 1863 inv. no. 90, in Gambier Parry's study);

Thence by descent and inheritance until sold with the remaining contents of Highnam Court (on premises), Bruton Knowles, 2-5 November 1971, lot 618, for £370;

With Walpole Gallery, London;

From whom acquired, 1990s.
