A Collection of 87 Valentines and Greeting Cards, circa 1840s-1890s

87 cards, ranging in size from approximately 83 x 64 mm to 254 x 203 mm, many with ornate gilt or silver embossed borders, paper lace, fringed borders, silk appliques, handcolored vignettes and titles, chromolithographed design motifs, some with contemporary ink inscriptions, at least two "pop up" valentines; scattered wear. 

Includes a rare Kate Greenaway designed valentine from the 1880s.
