Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's Prada Single-breasted Black Double-faced Wool Coat, 1997

RoseMarie Terenzio, Executive Assistant to John F. Kennedy Jr. and close friend of the couple. This coat was personally gifted to RoseMarie by Carolyn. 

Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy is photographed wearing this coat, accessorized with her signature narrow oval sunglasses, Prada Spazzolato bag, vanity case and clutching a roll of gift wrap, as she exits the couple's apartment building in Tribeca en route to Washington D.C. to attend Bill Clinton's inauguration, 19th January, 1997. This image is reproduced in ‘Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy: A Life In Fashion’ by Sunita Kumar Nair, p.56. She is photographed on another occasion wearing with jeans whilst walking the couple's beloved dog, Friday. This particular Prada coat was a favourite of Carolyn's and she is photographed on numerous occasions in other variations of the style including in beige and red tweed. It is probably from Prada's Autumn-Winter 1996-97 collection which featured coats and skirts in a slim silhouette, heavily influenced by designs from the late 1960s-early 1970s.
