FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR, 8vo, original boards, light browning to edges of boards, extremities slightly rubbed, else an excellent copy


One of about 420 copies printed (Woolmer). Inscribed by the author: "for Timmy from Nancy Cunard 1931". The recipient—Dorothy “Timothy” Hanley—was the wife of James Hanley, himself the author of the harrowing novella The German Prisoner. Cunard was the publisher of The Hours Press in Paris and a frequent writer on the subject of war.
