a head and shoulders portrait of Tolstoy (142 x 100mm.) produced by Scherer, Nabholz & Co, mounted on a cabinet card with the date 1886 on verso (total size 165 x 109mm.)

A fine portrait of the writer in a traditional belted smock, in unusually good condition.
