Oscar de la Renta Brings Paintbrush Fashion to Sotheby’s

Launch Slideshow

At Sotheby’s New York on 11 September, art leapt off the walls and onto the runway. Designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia showed their spring 2018 ready-to-wear collection for Oscar de la Renta in Sotheby’s galleries, where models in voluminous tulle gowns and embellished separates made their entrances via towering escalators. Garments were showered with vibrant-hued splatters, paintbrush heels added whimsical touches to shoes, and in what seemed like a homage to Pop art's graphics, Oscar was boldly written across several of the ensembles. “Sotheby’s was the perfect setting for the show,” said Garcia, who cited Calder and Miró as the season’s chief inspirations. “The space was like a blank canvas for our new logo, which we celebrated in this collection,” he added.
