Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 8 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. There is a small area of leading separation just beneath the top aperture rim above two of the top geometric border tiles. The separation is very minimal and appears stable. The shade leading is beautifully rendered with very fine lines and displays an exceptionally rich russet brown and green patina. With traces of surface soiling to the recessed contours beneath the poppy overlays. The patinated bronze surfaces of the “Twisted Vine” base display an exceptionally rich green and russet brown patina. The patinated bronze surfaces throughout with a few very light and minor surface scratches, light rubbing, and minor traces of surface soiling to the recessed contours on the base cushion consistent with age and gentle use. The sockets and paddle switches all appear to be original and undisturbed. With a period finial that displays a closely corresponding patina to the base. The finial with a few light surface scratches and a few very shallow surface bruises consistent with age and gentle use. A superb example of the model, displaying a highly desirable and harmonious shade and base pairing. The glass selection is particularly artistic and thoughtful, distinguished by the use of vigorously mottled glass in the background passages and lower tile border. The background passages display an unusual alternating color palette of yellow-orange glass mottled with green hues, and pale celadon glass mottled with deeper green hues. The poppy blossoms are defined in a wide range of garnet red and magenta tones, and the poppy centers are articulated in multi-colored jewel tones. The glass utilized throughout this shade displays far greater artistic nuances than seen in the catalogue illustrations.
