On June 27, 2018, Sotheby's will present an exemplary collection of 20th-century furniture, design and paintings. Works by French artists including Jacques Adnet, André Arbus, Roger Capron, Georges Jouve, Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne, Alexandre Noll and Jean Royère will rub shoulders with Italian and American artists including Osvaldo Borsani, Lucio Fontana, Pietro Fornasetti, Fontana Arte, Fausto Melotti, Gio Ponti, Gabriella Crespi and Karl Springer, as well as a collection of furniture inspired from Antiquity by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, to name a few.
The works are presented in situ, surrounded by contemporary interiors, which seamlessly intertwines modernity and classicism. Among the masterpieces is a unique silver plated metal hand by François-Xavier Lalanne from 1965, a large pastel by Pavel Tchelitchev, a lithograph by Pierre Soulages, an ebony sculpture by Alexandre Noll and two bronzes by Emile Gilioli. This eclectic selection will inspire and ignite the passion of collectors.
