Highlighting the sale was Alfred Sisley's Sous-Bois which sold for 3,189,000 USD, well above its estimate of 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 USD. Also performing strongly, Pierre-Auguste Renoir's Tête de Jeune Fille se Coiffant sold for 1,685,000 USD.
Sotheby's Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale on 5 November 2014 features a dazzling array of paintings, drawings and sculptures from important estates and esteemed private collections. We are proud to offer an extraordinary variety of portraits, landscapes, and still life compositions by the hand of Pierre-Auguste Renoir, as well as a spectacular selection of works that exemplify the genius of Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall.
