Our auction of Important Watches on 13 May in Geneva realised a grand total of CHF 9,028,625/US$ 9,753,624, setting three new world auction records for wristwatches by Patek Philippe. Sale highlights included an exquisite Patek Philippe wristwatch, previously from the collection of Eric Clapton (lot 200), which sold for CHF 406,000/US$ 438,602 (est. CHF 120,000-220,000), a new auction record set for a Patek Philippe ref 5970 in pink gold.
A new auction record was also established for a Patek Philippe Aquanaut wristwatch by lot 114, a rare stainless steel automatic cushion-form centre seconds wristwatch with date and khaki green dial reference 5167A-010 which achieved CHF 52,500/US$ 56,716 (est. CHF 8,000-12,000). Lot 116, a fine and very rare large stainless steel automatic cushion-form prototype ‘jumbo’ wristwatch with date and bracelet ref 3700/1, set an auction record for a Patek Philippe stainless steel Nautilus wristwatch, selling for CHF 250,000/US$ 270,075 (est. CHF 30,000-50,000).
