Our 18 December sale achieved $3.7 million. Leading the auction was this “Wisteria” lamp which soared to $1.56 million over a high estimate of $800,000. The piece set a new record at auction for a Tiffany Studios “Wisteria” table lamp. Also performing strongly was a Tiffany Studios, “Dragonfly” Table Lamp base which brought $112,500 over a high estimate of $60,000.

Sotheby’s annual Important Tiffany auction presents a highly curated selection of the firm’s celebrated leaded glass lighting, favrile glass and bronze fancy goods.  Among the top sale highlights is a rare “Bat” table lamp with an exquisite mosaic glass base embellished with bats, formerly from the collection of the Louis C. Tiffany Garden Museum in Japan.  Sotheby’s is also honored to present a magnificent piano designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany in 1888 for his Manhattan residence at 72nd Street and Madison Avenue.  The piano has remarkably remained with the family to the present day and is being consigned by descendants of the artist.
