The March 16th sale of Impressionist & Modern Art, including Russian and Latin American Art features a wide ranging selection of works from the late 19th Century through the 20th century,
Highlights include André Lhote's beautiful oil from 1938 Simone sur la Terrace ou Paysage de la Drôme, Marcel Gromaire's previously lost Portrait of Mrs. Dunbar and a charming gouache by Raoul Dufy of ladies with their parasols, featured on the cover of the catalogue. We are also pleased to present a small collection of Modern British works, including two striking gouaches by William Scott, a work on paper by Ben Nicholson and sculptures by Dame Elisabeth Frink and Henry Moore.
Russian works will be offered in the afternoon session, with beautiful large scale paintings by David Davidovich Burliuk and a collection of costume and set designs by Boris Izrailevich Anisfeld, Alexandre Benois and Sergei Soudeikine. We are pleased to offer a number of works by Pavel Tchelitchew from the Collection of Ruth Ford and Charles Henri Ford. Other seminal works from this renowned collection reached record prices in our Russian and Paris sales in 2010. There is also a collection of Latin American paintings and sculpture, including works being offered by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
We look forward to welcoming you in our galleries on March 11th.
