PROPERTY OF THE FAMILY OF THE ORIGINAL OWNER
The timeless design is directly inspired by the first Calatrava, the Reference 96, introduced just two years earlier.
The watch was produced in stainless steel, pink and white gold but is better known for its classic yellow gold declination, as the present lot.
The quality of the piece is a testament to the golden era of watchmaking. The gold cases were made by Vichet, one of the finest case makers of that period which also produced the cases of the References 1526 and 1518. The dials were made by the celebrated Stern Frères. The movements, based on the Valjoux cal. 13, show the traditional finish and were hand mounted.
The present Patek Philippe chronograph 130 was presented to the original owner as a wedding present. Kept within the family, it was preserved through the time with its Certificate of Origin and presentation case. Furthermore, the watch was carefully restored by Patek Philippe, making it not only a highly collectible watch but also a piece that is ready for a new chapter.
