PROPERTY OF A GENTLEMAN
David Roberts, R.A.
BRITISH THE CITADEL OF TANGIER, MOROCCO
signed and indistinctly dated David Roberts 1837 lower right watercolour over pencil, heightened with bodycolour and touches of gum arabic 24.9 by 39.2 cm., 9 3/4 by 15 1/2 in.
The more delicate pigments have faded. There is some minor surface dirt and in a raking light the paper appears slightly cockled. The work is not laid down, but attached to the backboard at the top edge.
