The canvas has been relined. Given the size of the painting, the overall condition is good and the painting presents well.
There is a pattern of craquelure throughout. Ultra-violet light reveals intermittent strokes of retouching along the extreme framing edges, fine lines of in-painting in the woman's body, face and around her calves. Scattered spots of retouching and of old discoloured varnish are visible mainly in the background, including: a circa 10 by 10cm area of restoration to the right of her left ankle, in her hair and another area (circa 10 by 20cm) above her head. The work is ready to hang.
