A very similar chandelier is in the Royal Palace of Naples, illustrated, G. Mariacher, Lampade e Lampadori in Italia dal Quattrocento all'Ottocento, Milan, 1961. The overall design is based upon fashionable French Empire examples, however the the use of giltwood rather than ormolu confirms its Italian manufacture. The Empire style had a lasting effect on Italian design well into the first half of the 19th century, in particular in Naples, where Napoleon's sister Caroline and her husband Joachim Murat ruled. Their lavish refurbishment of the Neapolitan Royal Palaces during the years 1810 to 1815, was largely preserved and completed by the restored Bourbon monarchy.
