In 2006, Girard Perregaux unveiled the ‘Challenger of Record’ Tourbillon in an exclusive limited edition of 32 examples, paying homage to the celebrated Golden Gate Yacht Club established in 1939. The manufacture combined the very finest of its haute-horlogerie craft with extremely modern materials and enduring technology to offer a genuine sports watch. In order to safely integrate a flying tourbillon into a diver’s watch, Girard Perregaux concealed the GP V97 caliber inside a thick lightweight titanium case. The sapphire crystal’s impressive 4.85mm thickness and the case’s helium-escape valve further-enhance the water and pressure resistance, allowing the flying tourbillon to reach the outstanding depth of 3000m.
This rare titanium example is offered with its original presentation case and represents a great opportunity for the sports and horology enthusiast to acquire an outstanding conversation piece combining the very best of tradition with extreme capability.
