The Resurrection was a subject explored by Schut in several media:  two paintings and an etching, depicting the same theme are also known.1

Though the present work does not correspond precisely to any of these other depictions of this subject, the somewhat Rubensian handling of the pen and brown ink and the lavish application of wash, make this signed drawing a particularly fine and rare example of the artist's draughtsmanship.
