DIAL: dial and hands in very good condition with no visible marks. CASE: with light scuffing to the case profiles and outer caseback but overall retains good definition. With some scratching to the band of the top right lug. The bottom of all four lugs bear strap changing marks. The serial number and reference are intact and clearly legible between the lugs. The bezel insert is in very good condition with no visible scuffs. Bracelet: clasp stamped 78790 Z11, 501B endlinks. Bracelet bears scratches mostly at the 12 o'clock side and a slight amount of stretch. Clasp locks securely. MOVEMENT: running at the time of cataloguing, date advances, seconds hack when crown is pulled out. Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of its timekeeping. Rolex launched the reference 16710 in 1989, superseding the 16760 with a slimmer case profile. The reference received various upgrades during its almost twenty-year run, including a new calibre as well as the transition from Tritium to Luminova and subsequently to SuperLuminova.
The present example was manufactured in 1997 and remains in excellent condition, retaining the original factory finish. It is fitted with the correct last generation of tritium dials, before Rolex switched to Luminova a few months later.
