The Patek Philippe reference 5800 is one of the rarest references of the famous Nautilus model. The reference was launched in 2006, marking the 30th anniversary of the model first introduced in 1976.   The 5800 replaced the slightly smaller 3800 which had been produced since 1981. As opposed to the 5711 and 5712 introduced at the same time, the new mid-size Nautilus had a case more faithful to the original 3700, with a monobloc construction and the movement mounted from the front.
In addition to its size, the case of the 5800 also differs from the 'Jumbo' by its sapphire display back.
The dimensions of this reference give a unique blend of sport and understated character to the watch.

Only a handful of examples of these rare pieces have appeared at auction.
This lot was just serviced by Patek Philippe and is in very appealing condition.
