For many years, Rolex used to change hands, crown and bezel as part of the service procedure. While the intention to give the watch back to the client as if it was new was certainly commendable, this choice is perceived today by collectors as a tragedy. Countless pieces have lost their appealing homogeneity and instead came back with a uniquely patinated dial but also with contrasting white hands.

This lot is a rare and welcome exception. The vintage elegance of the watch is heightened by the matching egg-shell patina of the dial, hands and pearl of the bezel.
