Lange und Söhne developed the manual calibre L042.1 in 2008, which not only features a 5-day power reserve when fully wound but also the world’s first stop-seconds tourbillon mechanism. This patented innovation allows the tourbillon cage to be stopped disregarding the direction the balance is facing. A specially shaped spring makes it possible to lock the balance wheel in place when the crown is pulled out without damaging it and releasing it when the crown is pushed back in.

Another typical feature of German watchmaker is the large guichet date window that has two separately revolving disks. This distinctive and unique design makes it immediately recognizable. Another feature is the decorated and beautifully finished three-quarter plate movement which can be admired through its sapphire display case back.

This watch is an exceptional piece in the pure German watchmaking tradition with a mechanical historical innovation to one of the most famous complications.
