A SPLENDID EARLY NINETEENTH-CENTURY FLORILEGIUM. The attribution to “Sievert” on the lid of the box is intriguing, reminding us of August Wilhelm Sievert, the noted botanical artist, but he died in 1751. Given the demonstrable talent of the present artist, it’s pleasing to think that these drawings might be by a family member.
