The canvas has been lined. There is scattered hairline craquelure throughout, notably in the sky although not too distracting, and various spots of paint flaking are visible in the extreme upper and right edges, covered by the frame. There is a circa 5cm horizontal band of old discoloured varnish visible along the upper edge, also covered by the frame, which would benefit from cleaning. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals a circa 40cm intermittent stroke of retouching in the sky in the upper edge, also visible to the naked eye, possibly addressing an old repair, and other spots in the right edge. Some fine lines of in-painting are also visible in the sky in the left hand side of the composition.
Overall, this work presents well and could benefit from some restoration.
