The actual painting seems to be a bit warmer in tone than the catalogue illustration would suggest.
The painting is on a single plank which has a slight bevelling all sides; it also covered on the its reverse with an old piece of 'cloth'. An old vertical crack of ca. 10 cm. can be seen running inwards from the bottom edge, at ca. 15 cm from the left. The panel itself is very slightly warped.
The painted surface is covered with a varnish layer which is matt in places especially around the edges, which also shows some minor paintlosses. Furthermore it is covered with a fine and dense craquelure pattern.
Under UV: the varnish layer fluoresces partially, showing retouchings along the edges.
Offered with a carved and giltwood frame, in good condition.
