with four alternating lacquered panels of birds amidst cherry blossoms and shishi lions with peonies against an underglaze blue scrolling lotus ground, the domed covers similarly decorated and surmounted by shishi finials

Condition

The vases and covers are in good overall condition with the exception of: to one cover, a short hairline rim crack and restoration to the finial; to the other cover, two circa 4.5cm., long hairline glaze cracks to the body; to one vase, a 6cm., long hairline rim crack; to the other vase a 7cm., long hairline rim crack and a circa 12cm., wide firing line running around the inside of the foot; minor firing imperfections including crazing, glaze pulls and iron-spots, and refreshing and restoration to the applied polychrome decoration.
