the wood cup, the handles decorated with foliage, the base engraved below with a medallion surrounded by silver scrolls, one of the handles engraved below  IS : FRANC° :, the other DELALBER

Condition

The wood-cup with tear visible on the photo. In overall good condition. Silver mount slightly wobbling. The case in poor condition. The handles with scratches on the surface. Very nice and unusual piece.

A hypothesis has been suggested regarding the engraving on the handles: it could refer to St François d'Assise and the tree he planted that is still visible. This cup's wood would have come from this tree (alber).
