拍品資料及來源

The low relief scenes on a gilt background visible on each side of the upper sarcophagus and on the body of the casket remind of Italian Renaissance pastiglia technique, composed of gesso low relief friezes applied on generally gilt or polychromed backgrounds.
The large dimensions of this casket and its rich decoration alternating scenes in reliefs and figures in the round remind of Wilhelm I of Württemberg's ivory casket, dating 1841 and attributed to Theodor Wagner (1800-1880), after a drawing by Joseph Joachim von Schnitzer (Christie's Amsterdam, 3-5 April 2007, lot 1185, sold €216,000).
