  • A SILVER KEYLESS GOLIATH CLOCK WATCH, NO. 156, CIRCA 1760
  • 105mm diameter; 4¼in.
white enamel dial, Roman numerals and outer minute chapter, unmatched and later  hands, gilt full plate movement, two train, verge escapement, three polished hammers striking on a bell, movement number: 156, silver hinged case, case stamped DE and numbered 2297 under the bell, and with various marks, outer case engraved with initials 'GW' and 'MDS' (Mary Downshire Sandys) beneath a coronet, case number: 2297, movement signed

Condition

DIAL: the dial is cracked at 5, and chipped at 9. The hands are broken in places and not original to the watch. CASE:There is a dent at the opening button, but overal the case is in good order with scratches commensurate with wear. There are losses to the infill on the coronet. The dial opening button at 6 is broken and so the watch does not close securely. MOVEMENT: The movement runs when wound but the alarm function has not been tested. Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of its timekeeping.
