Condition

Clock: 30cm. high, 36cm. wide, 13cm. deep, 12in., 14 1/4in., 5in. Woman & man: 37.5cm. high, 28cm wide, 18cm. deep, 14 3/4in., 11in., 7in. In overall good condition. Gilding with very minor old marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Some branches and nozzles loose but securely fixed. Minor losses to porcelain leaves and petals of flowers. The two composite figures below the clock sit rather comfortable, but please note that they are not securely fixed to the gilt-bronze base. Comes with one clock winder and one detached piece of a branch. Highly decorative. Porcelain of clock: The Meissen group of the mother and child: the mother's right arm and hand is a restored replacement to the underside of the forearm up to the joint of the elbow, her right hand is cracked through the wrist and restored, the child's left hand and the flower he grasps are restored replacements, some minor scattered chipping to the applied flowers on the base, marked with a faint cross swords mark the underside Pressnummern 28. Probably from the 'Délices de l'enfance' modeled by Kaendler and Reinicke. The single figure is probably slightly earlier, circa 1750, her right hand is a restored replacement with associated restoration to her sleeve, the top of her parasol is restored, slight chipping to flowers and leaves applied to the base. With small blue cross swords marks to the back of the base. The flowers all appear to be 18th century, and are probably a mixture of French and German flowerheads, most naturalistically coloured but with several examples predominately white, some chipping to petals especially to one yellow bloom at the lower right. The porcelain of candelabra with gallant and companion, possibly emblematic of Autumn and Spring, both modelled dancing near side plinths which would once may have had urns surmounting them, signs of old overpainting where there has been a loss, the male figure generally in good order, the female figure with scattered chipping to the bow and plum in her hat, the leaves on the tree trunk and to the base, the male figure with a blue cross swords mark to the reverse of the base. Both figures mid-18th century, circa 1750-55. The flowers are mostly 18th century, and are probably French, several have extensive chipping to petals.
